Indian blanket is a bunch type flowering species known for its excellent drought hardiness. It is typically found growing along roadsides and in prairies, preferring sandy soil. Indian blanket is characteristically very drought tolerant and grows well in marginally fertile soils. The dense colonies of bright red and yellow pinwheel-shaped flowers make a stunning displayed when at the peak of flowering. Indian blanket is a prolific reseeder if allowed to reach maturity.
